Celebrating wins, big and small: Finding resilience and joy in everyday accomplishments

As the holiday season rolls in and we start to put a bow on 2023, I wanted to take a moment to chat about something that's really close to my heart—celebrating all our wins, both the headline-makers and the quieter, everyday accomplishments.

A couple of weeks ago, after a long spell of seasonal colds ricocheting around my family, I finally joined my crew for our weekly Thursday bike ride. It’s a small thing, but it’s precisely these small things that add meaning to our lives.

This year has been a wild ride. A blend of challenges, learning curves, and triumphs. It's easy to focus on the big, splashy victories—and they certainly deserve our attention! But let’s not forget the smaller victories. While they may seem modest or even trivial, they are the backbone of our happy lives. Recognizing these achievements not only boosts your confidence but also makes you more resilient to any potential failures or setbacks.

Now is the perfect time to remember these achievements.

Did you nail a new skill, receive a heartfelt compliment from a colleague, or manage to stick to your daily routine? These tiny victories add up to a momentum that carries us through life.

They are harder to notice and so are often left unappreciated. We might be waiting for a big breakthrough and feel discouraged that it hasn’t materialized yet while completely missing the fact that we’re already three-quarters of the way there.

So, in this season of celebration, I encourage you to acknowledge your small but significant accomplishments.

Here's to celebrating every success, big and small, this holiday season!
